Meeting Point: Latest From Lovaas

From the Editor

You asked. We'll answer. Thanks to the many suggestions submitted by readers of past newsletters, we are in the process of determining some of the content for our upcoming newsletters. We hope you'll keep sending us feedback so that we can continue to provide a resource you find of practical value. Below are some of the upcoming articles, based on that feedback. I look forward to continuing our discussion next month.

Sincerely,

Is there any research or information available about ABA for older children with autism (in the way of academic support & language development)?

Simi Valley, CA

The June issue will include a section on research in ABA with older children.

The Lovaas program has many forms to use for the home program and I was wondering if there were forms for school?

British Columbia, Canada

The May issue will include a section on data collection at school.

Any ideas on ignoring, or waiting for the child to actually follow through with a familiar and "can-do" task, that is done routinely, every day 3-5 times a day, but the student "won't-do?"

Los Angeles, CA

To help kick off the new school year, the Septembers issue will include a section on increasing independence at school.

Would appreciate any tips, etc. for high functioning/Asperger kids and more advanced programming.

Anonymous

There will be a number of articles starting in July that highlight more advanced programming.
